What's a podcast?
Podcasts are audio mp3 files (and in some cases video files, but we're not going there) that are available in a serialized format. They are delivered directly to your computer for your listening pleasure. Many are set up like radio shows; others like audio blogs. Still, others are like audio books.
There are literally thousands -- if not millions -- of podcasts out there. All have different production values -- from very professional to rank amateur.
Do I need an Ipod to listen to them?
Absolutely not! While the term "podcast" is certainly similar to "Ipod" because they are the ones who made portable audiofiles popular, you don't need an Ipod. You can listen on your computer or on any MP3 player or player that accepts MP3 formats. As long as you've got sound, you've got the means to listen to a podcast.
Now, I happen to LIKE my Ipod because I can take it with me anywhere, but if all the portable mp3 players were to disappear tomorrow, you could still listen to podcasts.
How do I go about listening to the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show?
You have several wonderful options. First, you can go directly to the Show Notes page, click on the audio button and listen right there. You can also download the mp3 and listen to the show at your leisure.
One innovation is the podcatcher (there's that pod-thing again!). What a podcatcher does is look for shows and downloads them without you having to remember when to look for what shows. It puts the shows in one place so you can listen to them. It also keeps track when you're done and deletes them, unless you tell it to keep the show. There are several good podcatchers out there including ITunes, Juice, IpodderX, podcastready and a host of others. I give instructions for how to set up ITunes and Juice below.
OK, What's the catch? How much does this cost?
It's absolutely free. No, really. You don't pay a cent, unless you want to donate.
How do you afford to keep doing this?
Well, it's out of my pocket at this time. That's why I'd really appreciate it if you made a donation. Anything helps. My costs are time, effort, website, hosting service, and paying the authors for their stories. I wouldn't complain if someone stepped up with a sponsorship or advertising.

How do I submit a story to the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show?
How do I get interviewed by the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show?
I want my book reviewed. How do I go about doing that?
Why did you change the format?
Well, to be quite honest, a full 30 minute show was getting daunting to do each week. So, I thought maybe every other week, but even that was daunting. But doing a segment at a time was less daunting. So, we're going with that.
Let me know what you think. Yeah, I still have to change the outro on it.
Subscribing in Juice (easy and free)
Juice is cross-platform and free -- you don't have to subscribe or anything. You can download Juice at http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/. 4. The Sci Fi Traveling Road Show will appear in the main window. Only the last episode will be checked. You can check all, some or none to download.
5. Make sure the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show is highlighted.
5. Look for the icons with the small red bar with a blue circle and arrow pointing downward. When you move the cursor over it, it says "Check/download selected feed". Click on this. The download will start.
